I was at my wit’s end about Bad Cat Behavior (read Spraying!) when I had the good fortune of having Constance come into my home, observe my two cats and consult with me about their issues and explain to me why they were not getting along. She not only offered practical advice but recommended some flower essence remedies for them. Since her visit the whole family has noticed a gradual but steady improvement in the cats’ behavior toward each other. Constance spent time with the cats and was very perceptive in her observations about what was going on, and how best to interact and help change their behavior. Her advice was simple and logical. She also followed up a day or so later and delivered the recommended remedies, and has continued to check in from time to time to see how they are doing. I have a much better understanding of what is going on between these two litter mates and the summary effect of her advice and remedies has been no HISSING, SCRATCHING AND SPRAYING. Constance was a Godsend!

Dealing with cat behavior issues can be as simple as changing the brand of litter used.  It can also be a much more complicated process, one that involves trial and error, creativity, and patience. I can’t promise miracles, but I can offer supportive interaction with people and cats which nearly always yields positive results.

A few words about what cannot do.  First, I am not a veterinarian, and I cannot offer veterinary advice.  Some behavior issues arise from medical problems, and I often begin a consultation suggesting a visit to a veterinarian.  It is essential to rule out health concerns before starting work to change behavior.

Next, I am not an animal communicator, nor do I aspire to be. I cannot tell people what their cats are thinking.  That said, I believe that understanding cat behavior involves my intuition as much as intellect.  Over time, I have developed “cat eyes” and can visualize what felines perceive their environments.  I also have human ears.  I listen carefully to what people say, or don’t say, about their companions.  This can be highly emotional business for everyone involved, and once that is honored, the real possibility of finding solutions begins.

Whenever possible, I prefer to start with an in-person visit so I can meet the cat(s) and their human family members on home turf.  I also do phone consultations.  Rates for consultations vary depending on complexity of the issues involved.  Home visits begin at $150, with possible costs for travel. An initial 45 minute phone consult starts at $100.  Either option includes a limited number of pre-arranged follow-ups by email or phone.
